MEATUP Testimonials

Bruce Hunter, Tasty Trotter: "We’ve sold about six or seven hog roasters and about 15 griddles. We’ve been busy all the time, and even all the equipment on show has sold so we’re going home empty handed!"

Philip Edge, President NFMFT: "t’s been an absolutely wonderful day. Having been a butcher for 50 years myself and seeing the standard of the work from the IYB contestants today has made me feel really proud of my trade."

Nicola Chandler, Weddel Swift: "Really good show! I’ve got ten new ten new customers already today, and it’s been great to get out there and meet people. We’re launching our new Ovation brand and a range of smoked meats."

Steve Cronin, Simcron Food Machinery: "This is a marvellous exhibition, and we’ve really been looking forward to it. It’s perfect for our market for the small butchers. The competitions will attract them to Stoneleigh and I’m sure we’re prepared for a great show."

Lesley Hunt, Pentic: "In terms of visitors, there have been quite a few people who are already using counter holders like ours, but there have also been a lot of people who’ve never seen them before in their lives, and there’s quite a few non-UK people here – so that’s really good."

John Howard, Danish Agriculture & Food Council: "The quality and organisation of this event is superb, and it is a tribute to the organisers that they are prepared to make a sizeable investment into the meat industry."

Mary Irving, Creative Retail Solutions Ltd: "It’s been a hectic day, which is good. The response from the visitors has been excellent, really warm and the butchers’ are a lovely crowd, and so easy to talk to. As to selling, it’s a process, not a snap decision and we know that, but we’ve made some useful leads and contacts that we hope will materialise in a few weeks down the line."

Ian Mackway, RAPS UK: "The show has been a tremendous success for RAPS and on the first day there was not one minute of the day when we weren’t entertaining customers on our stand and doing business. Our congratulations go to the organisers for a superb event."

Brian Grant, Autoflo Handwash Systems: "The show has been much better than we expected to be honest, so we thought we’d get in quick to make sure we got the right stand for the NEC. We’ve met some interesting people from right across the meat processing/abattoir and retailing range – so it’s been good for us."

Andy Williams, MRC – The Flava People: "Most retail butchers buy MRC. And over the last two days, people have come on the stand and seen some products that they haven’t bought before. So they’ve taken away new flavours of Flava-its, and they’ve taken away some free samples; so it’s been good to see everyone. It’s been a successful show and we’ve certainly enjoyed it."

Steve Derrick, Lucas Ingredients (and Judith Johnston): "It was very good this morning – hopefully we’ve got some new business as there has been a lot of interest. The people that have been coming are genuinely interested in our products. There’s been a lot of interest in the corned beef today, and the butchers’ classic pork pie mix."

Nuala Kiernan, Kiernan’s Food Ingredients: "We’ve had some good interest, and hopefully made some new contacts too. The chilli marinades have proved to be very popular."

Christine Walsh, MLC – on the EBLEX and BPEX stand: "I’m displaying the offal and we’ve had loads of interest! People who want to buy stuff have been saying: "I want two lorry loads of that per week – can you sort it?" Certainly that’s the case with the beef tripe and the head meat from the pigs. And the customers have been from Bulgaria, from Romania and so on."

Rachel Kelly, Copas Traditional Turkeys: "There aren’t many other producers here – but that’s been good, as it has brought people over here. We’ve had some discussions with some potential new customers, and we’re looking forward to getting some new business."

Jenny Bedell-Harper, The InHaus Group: "We’ve just had three people come over this morning, but they’ve been good leads. So that’s positive. During the first day of the last Foodex, I didn’t have a single person on the stand – we were having to go out and grab people."

Tony Bradley, Kernpack: "It’s been a very good day. We have had two customers that are interested in purchasing the machine, so we’re pleased."

Satvinder Lola, William Jones Packaging: "We actually cover all the packaging for butchers – from reusable bags to bags for life, but we also do all the wrapping sheets as well and we’ve got a new product as well – the Boss Bags, which we actually launched last year but which are coming on in leaps and bounds."
